Are you interested in volunteering?
Bala Mandir’s Kinship Care programme was conceptualised to take care of children, either orphaned by loss of one or both parents which left them in the care of a mother or kith and kin. Having started during the post-COVID-19 pandemic period the programme has now been extended to all causes of death of parents. The following are the options for volunteering under the Kinship Care programme.

1. Online one-on-one support to Children : Volunteers who are willing to commit to supporting children in primary and middle school through WhatsApp calls could register for the Happy Reading programme. The enclosed pamphlet has the project details and this programme supports the children in Bala Mandir’s Kinship Care programme. Basic knowledge of spoken Tamil will be needed to interact with the parents and there is a need to commit 1 hour time in the evening of India time, two days a week. The Happy Reading programme helps the children improve their reading skills. Over time the volunteer can continue to support the same children as he/she grows and seeks help in other areas including mentoring.
2. Fund Raising support : The growth and sustenance of the Kinship Care programme depends on the ongoing fund raising for this programme. Interested volunteers could help in this area.
3. Other opportunities for volunteering : There are many other areas which can benefit from the support of volunteers including online tuition classes, mentoring of children, counselling support and quality audit. Professionals and/or Students, who would like to share their talent and time with children in various age groups in our programmes spread across several districts of TamilNadu, may approach us by writing to hr@balamandir.org describing your skills and area of interest.
